Christoff Oosthuysen

“My name is Christoff Oosthuysen. I am the lead coach & designer of business improvement tools at  BusinessOwner&Co. Some people call me an entrepreneurial coach and others call me an enterprise development consultant. But I think of myself as some-one that learnt over time how owner-managers of growing businesses can reach their individual potential and best steer their businesses to achieve success by making use of the opportunities available to them. My job is to help them to make possible today, what they dreamt about yesterday!

“In 1996 I launched – with three other entrepreneurs – the small business newspaper Bignews for the Business Owner as part the small media agency we started. As MD I developed the business to the point of selling the controlling stake in the publishing unit in 2006.  The new owners (publishers of Business Day and Financial Mail) retained me as Publisher of Bignews for two more years, during which time I also developed and launched the Enterprise Development Awards. Anglo America’s Zimele Programme was the first winner. And I am still doing consulting work there.

“During the nearly 15 years at Bignews I gained first-hand experience of the challenges faced by business owners in South Africa. And the experience of conceiving a business idea, launching it and managing the business through various stages, enabled me to refine my understanding of business development, entrepreneurial coaching, owner-manager mentorship and SME strategy development.

“My practical experience is supported by various training courses such as the Associate Coaching Certificate and Strategic Management Certificate from the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business.
